This position calls for genuine Kubernetes engineering depth. Experience limited to managing clusters through dashboards or performing routine cluster administration will not meet the bar for this role.

Short Description:

We are looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to serve as the technical authority for our Kubernetes-based compute platform, owning it from design through ongoing evolution. This platform underpins the security, networking, efficiency, and developer-experience capabilities our Cloud Infrastructure organization provides and keeps behavior consistent across multiple cloud providers. Your work will give infrastructure, and product teams a reliable, scalable, and secure foundation for shipping high-quality features at scale.

About the Role

What you will do

Lead the technical direction of high-visibility, high-impact initiatives
Mentor and guide a geographically distributed engineering team
Identify and deliver improvements that lower the cost of running the cloud platform
Bring teams into alignment on objectives, expected outcomes, and delivery schedules
Own prioritization, timelines, and delivery commitments for your projects
Help shape the long-range, multi-year roadmap for the cloud platform
Architect, build, test, ship, operate, and continuously improve the compute platform

What you bring

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline, or comparable professional experience
12+ years working in infrastructure engineering
4+ years of deep experience with at least one major public cloud GCP, AWS or Azure and its core infrastructure services, such as EC2
Expert-level, hands-on Kubernetes engineering skills, including:

Developing custom Kubernetes controllers
Designing and implementing admission webhooks

A track record of defining technical strategy and landing large, cross-team projects
A strong commitment to efficiency, availability, quality, and great developer experience

Nice to Have
Prior work at cloud-native, DevOps, or infrastructure-centric companies operating Kubernetes in production at scale
Advanced Golang skills
Handson experience with Istio or Envoy
